Judith Leiber was born Judith Peto in 1921 in Budapest, Hungary. She is a world renowned designer in the development of haute-couture handbags and clutches. She was the first woman who joined artisans who hand - made bags in Budapest. As a Jew, she avoided the Holocaust in World War II. Her father managed to save her with a document that he had (Swiss Shutzpass), which is now preserved in "The Holocaust Museum in Washington DC".
